Pat was born and raised in Dunsmuir, Calif., and graduated from Fresno State in 1970. Pat has acted as a special consultant in the insurance industry due to his earlier experience working in the construction industry, U.S. Forestry Service and the Hazard Abatement division of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. He has extensive experience in loss control relative to many industries. Pat was a loss control consultant with the Fremont Insurance Company prior to joining Barney and Barney Insurance agency as a producer and later Tanenbaum and Harbor Insurance. He joined the Ehrenfeld Company in 1995.

Pat is currently a board member of the San Diego Safety Council.
