Royce is from Northern Indiana and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Indiana University. Royce received his insurance related education through intensive company training by Safeco and Employers of Wausau, and has also earned the CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) and CRM (Certified Risk Manager) designations.

Royce's insurance career began with Safeco Insurance Company in Fountain Valley, California in 1974. He moved to San Diego to join Employers of Wausau as a sales rep in commercial insurance, and later joined the Robert F. Driver Company in San Diego where he was a Vice-President and served on the Board of Directors. After nine years with the Driver Company, Royce joined another San Diego agency in order to take advantage of an ownership opportunity. He became an associate of the Michael Ehrenfeld Company in 2008.

Royce has extensive experience working with San Diego's life science community (he is active in the BIOCOM organization) and also works in the technology and manufacturing areas. He has an excellent relationship with the major insurers that have industry-focused programs in his market niche, and has a broad based knowledge of the myriad coverage forms used in this segment.
