agencies in the east would eventually become the method of operation
across the country. The future of commercial insurance involves
diminishing the position of the agent/broker and the individual
relationship with the client.
It was felt that the client’s first loyalty
must be to the agency, not a particular agent or service representative.
In addition to maintaining the account within the agency without
influence from the producer, there was a perceived expense reduction
if the agent’s position was secondary. Michael Ehrenfeld believed
strongly that the producer is critical and not an obsolete factor
in process. For Michael Ehrenfeld, the agency must provide the infrastructure,
the tools, that foster a strong agent-account manager-client relationship.
The Ehrenfeld Company acknowledges that an assessment
of the insurance agency is an important part of the selection process.
Their capability, reputations, professional conduct and financial
strength must be considered and have weight in the buying decision.
But, the individual producer relationship is critical to the successful
professional relationship. The producer must “manage”
your account and thereby be responsible for the correct handling
of the many elements of a present day commercial account.
The producer will go through the critical fact finding
interviews, meet his or her contact person in the capacity of owner,
president or financial officer. Of importance will be contact with
the human resources manager, shop foreman, security personnel, maintenance
people and similar associates of yours who will have valuable knowledge
in establishing and maintaining a correct insurance program.
The producer will oversee the agency personnel who
are assigned to our various in-house procedures relative to the
quotation process, day to day service and claims handling. Because
of the depth of this process and, as no account remains in a static
position, a system of regular and frequent visits will be established
all of which are under the control of the producer.
Ehrenfeld Company clients work with an insurance agent
designated as a primary contact to manage and process policy needs.
Clients receive one-on-one service focusing on the client company's
unique coverage requirements. Agents set regular meetings with their
client company's human resources, risk management and loss control
specialists. This approach fosters long-term relationships between
clients and their Ehrenfeld Associates.
Our goal is to work with the client to understand
their risk management philosophy and jointly structure an insurance
program that provides value – value defined as an insurance
program that fits your wants, needs, and risk tolerance at the most
cost effective price.

that we will achieve a program of insurance coverage that meets
that definition of value. We are constantly evaluating our current
insurers and looking at new insurance companies to assess which
mix of companies will best provide for the needs of our clients.
